Originally called Project: Entropia, development was started around 1995 in Sweden. Microsoft threatened their existance in 2002 during their testing phase, sending court officials to raid their office, accusing them of using unlicensed software. Regardless of this the game was eventually in January 2003. In my opinion this game is one of the greatest shames in MMORPG history.
Fantastic game, with beautiful graphics and an awesome imagination behind it, but when it comes down to it this game is really just a giant virtual casino. You have to spend money to get anywhere in the game, and it can take quite a lot of money too. Many players have found themselves addicted and lost everything. Others have made their fortunes playing it. You can actually withdraw the money you make as real money. This game holds Guiness Records for the most expensive virtual items ever sold.
If you want to play for free, you can, but its slow. You need to have the patience and determination of a saint to save up enough to do anything with. Ammo costs money, repair on your weapons and armor costs money. In fact, anything you gain will eventually be used up if you dont continue to fund it. Still the game is so much fun, so its worth playing for fun if you can keep your spending under control.

Hostile Space is a massively multiplayer online role playing game that takes place in a vast persistent galaxy. Players take on the role of a star ship captain with goals including planetary exploration, mining, bounty hunting, smuggling goods, and taking on terrible space monsters.
